Anyone who knows me knows that I have a slight obsession with Hello Kitty. And by slight I mean enough to have my entire room Hello Kitty up until my third year of college. So the minute I heard about ColourPop’s collaboration for Hello Kitty’s 40th birthday I knew I had to get at least one piece from the set.
Fast forward to present day, my bank account was in no way going to let me get the whole collection (mainly due to the terrible exchange on the Canadian Dollar!) So I picked up 2 lippies, a highlighter and the 4 piece eyeshadow set. Also since it was my first order I had a $5 off coupon.
Now the first thing I’m going to mention is how freaking adorable the packaging is for this collection. It captures the true essence of Hello Kitty and I’m in love with it. Not only is the actual product packaging super cute but even the boxes for them are amazing. I don’t think there’s a thing that I don’t love about this collection.
Unfortunately I am terrible at reading things (ahem Tarteist Lip Wardrobe) so I didn’t realize that they had a metallic lippie in the set so I ordered a normal metallic. Then I ended up placing another order for the metallic Hello Kitty lippy, but something went wrong with the USPS and it still hasn’t been delivered.
So let’s get to why we’re here, the review and the swatches of what I did order.
First up is the 4 piece Super Shock Shadow set in “Mama’s Apple Pie“. This features a pink, white, navy and beige shadows all with a glitter/metallic/pearl finish. As with all ColourPop shadows the pigmentation is amazing and the texture is so smooth.
Rainbow is a sheer white with silver and pink glitter
Friendship File is a peach-ish beige with silver and pink glitter with an overall metallic finish
Small Gift is pink with a slight peach tone to it with a pearl finish
School Bus is a deep navy blue with a pearl finish.
The next thing I ordered was a highlighter in the shade “School is Fun” and let me tell you, this might be my new favourite highlight. It also makes me want to buy another 15 ColourPop highlighters. It’s so buttery and smooth but so amazingly pigmented. It is described as a “Pearlized finish soft iridescent duo chrome gold” but I could easily sum it up as heaven.
The last thing that I can review for you today is the lippie stix in the shade “Let’s Play“. Again with sucking at reading I thought it was just a basic red lippie. Well needless to say I was so surprised when I saw it. It is a pearly medium red with some glitter to it. It applies so smoothly and stays for hours. It does transfer to cups and such but it does a good job of staining the lips to a cranberry red even after it transfers off. The packaging for this is also my favourite of all, as the top cap features the classic HK bow all over in silver.
The metallic lippie I ordered was the ultra metallic lip in the colour “Surprise“. It’s described as “Metallic finish dynamic cool-toned ruby red topped with copper and hot pink glitter” and I’m anxiously awaiting to get an email saying it was delivered to my American mailbox.
The collection is beginning to sell out, so my recommendation is to pick up any now if you want to and haven’t had the chance! It is available here, but not for long! Also I just got an email that they are restocking the collection in the morning!! So now’s your chance.
