Ipsy “Side Show” April 2017 Review

Ipsy does it yet again. I know I say this each month. But maaaaan, they know me so well and I’m lovin’ mg bag this month. The theme for April’s glam bag was “Side Show” and it’s inspired by our quirks, flaws, and differences.

So given the theme, the bag fits perfectly. The bag is your “ticket” to the sideshow and embracing your uniqueness. The bag itself is a red vinyl-ish material and shaped like a ticket and designed with pink and white accents. While many have been complaining about this bag, I personally love it and think it’s so cute and different.
For those of you who don’t know what Ipsy is, it is a monthly beauty subscription with a themed bag and 5 full sized or deluxe samples for only $10USD (+$4.95 shipping if you live in Canada) as you can see if you continue reading the total value of the bag is a lot more, so it’s a steal and a perfect way to build up your makeup collection.
So let’s start with the items that I have received this month, I got a brush, a face toned, an eyeliner, a bronzer and a lip balm.

First up, is probably the most requested item of the month of April. It is the unreleased (don’t worry it will be released in the next couple months) Lisa Frank x Glamour Dolls Angle Blush Brush. Honestly, I think this is more of a novelty item, as much as I love brushes and unicorns it just reminds me of a children’s makeup brush. It is very soft tho!!

Full size and retails for $5USD and can be preordered here

Next up is the item that I had emailed Ipsy last month requesting and that is the Colourpop Creme Gel Liner in Swerve. I had received this liner about a year ago from Ipsy in a rose gold colour and instantly fell in love with the formula. It is ever so buttery and smooth and oh so pigmented. The best part is that it’s smudge proof!!

Full size and retails for $5USD

Third up (I don’t even know if that’s a proper expression, but hey it’s 2:30 am so right now it is) I received an Adesse New York Cupuacu (how in the world do you even pronounce that?) Butter Lip Balm. I originally thought this was a lipstick when I first saw it, but when swatched and applied I realized it is a very sheer light pink, but it is very moisturizing and has a slight shimmer to it. It also has a slightly minty taste and aroma too which is a plus.

Full size and retails for $24USD

Next, I received a mini Bamboo Bronzer from Ciaté London. The packaging is so cute, it comes in a little black compact with their logo and starts on top. The bronzer itself is a matte formula and it almost reminds me of Benefit’s Hoola Bronzer.

Deluxe sample size weighing in at 0.1oz while the full size costs $28USD for 2.9oz. $0.97USD value

The final item I got this month was a deluxe sample of the Skin&CO Roma Truffle Therapy Face Toner. My goodness, this is heavenly. The smells reminds me of a sunscreen/beach/tropical vacation and it leaves my skin feeling so refreshed and soft. It is also said to make pores appear smaller after a week, but I have only used it for 2 nights so I cannot vouch for it.

Deluxe Sample Size of 30ML, while the full size is 200ML and costs $27USD. $4.05USD value.

Overall I was super impressed with my glam bag this month. Like seriously tho, Ipsy has majorly stepped up their game since I first joined in 2014.
The total value of items received was $39.02USD, that’s nearly 4X the price your paying for the bag. Interested in joining? It’s simple, click here and follow the instructions then sit back and watch your makeup collection grow.
Also this month I was able to redeem 750 points for a FULL SIZED Estée Lauder Double Wear to go Foundation (they even had my colour and it’s worth nearly $50) which I will be receiving with my May glam bag!!

  • I was subbed to ipsy for years but cancelled when I signed up for BoxyCharm because I didn’t want to pay for two beauty subscriptions. This box looks really good though! I love colourpop so much.
