Let’s start off by saying “how in the world is it May 28? Like this month? No scratch that year is flying by! Like less than a month away I will be in Toronto attending the Second Edition of Ipsy’s Generation Beauty, and a couple days shy of a month I will officially be 22 – and I really don’t think anyone understands how excited I am to be able to sing 22 super loudly and obnoxiously on that day. I mean c’mon I’ve waited 6 years for this day to come. Also it’s my champagne birthday this year.
Well now that you’ve gotten my little birthday speech let’s get onto the real reason you’re here. The unboxing of my May 2017 Ipsy Glam Bag !
For those of you who do not know what Ipsy is – it is a monthly beauty subscription service that costs $10 USD with free shipping to the USA and $4.95USD shipping to Canada. Each month you get 5 customized items and a themed makeup bag delivered right to your door step. It is the perfect opportunity to grow your makeup collection on a budget.
First off I’d like to mention that the bag this month is waterproof, how freaking cool? Perfect for those beach or pool days. I mean if they ever possibly come to me – it’s on it’s like 10th rainy day this month and it’s supposed to rain all next week. I thought it was APRIL showers bring May flowers?
This month I received a brush, an eyeliner, a Bronzer/highlighter duo, a Brow gel, and a nail polish. And the brands this month blew me out of the water, Benefit, Pixi and of course Luxie.
First up we will go with my favourite – and if you know me, you know that it is going to be the Luxie brush. This brush is slightly different than my regular collection as this one comes from their Dream Catcher collection so it is periwinkle instead of the regular pink. This brush was also in last months bag, which I didn’t get and was actually a little sad about, but I’m so happy to have gotten it this month. It is the 660 precision foundation brush.
Next up is the Pixi Beauty Silky Eye Pencil in Opal Overcoat. The colour was a surprise to me because it was coming in either black or this one. I can say that I actually love this, it’s a rose gold/nude colour and the formula is soooo creamy and smooth.
This is a deluxe sample size of 0.8 grams while the full size is 1.13 grams for $12 USD. Value is $8.52 USD
Next is the Benefit Gimme Brow. I was was super excited to find out I was getting it this month, unfortunately I got it in colour 1 which is blonde. And I am definitely not a blonde, my hair is fairly dark brown and I’m more of a 3 or 4. After playing around with it tho I did add it on top of my finished brows to use similarly to their 3D Brow Tones as a highlighter for my brows.
I also received the Manna Kadar Cosmetics Radiance Split Pan Bronzer and Highlighter Duo. I personally love the highlighter, however I prefer matte Bronzer so and this one is also a little dark for my complexion.
The final item I had received this month is the Adesse New York Organic Infused Gel Effect Nail Lacquer in Surfer Girl. I absolutely love the colour, it’s a light aqua/Tiffany blue colour. However I’m not a fan of the formula. As I had painted my nails and they had already began to chip the next days. I also did not use a base or top coat, so that could have had an effect on it.
Overall like I had mentioned earlier, this months bag was amazing. I mean 3 full sized items and a deluxe sample of Benefit? The total is even more amazing. I got $82.52 USD or roughly $110 CAD after the exchange rate. I paid roughly $20 with the exchange and after shipping.
