Ipsy February 2017 “Much Love” Review

28 months with Ipsy and it seems like they keep giving me more reasons to fall in love with them. This month they had sent out an email to a select group allowing them to pick one item for the February glam bag. The minute I saw a Luxie brush, I needed it. So I had thought there’s no harm in trying to ask for it. Luckily (because they have the best customer service) they promptly replied and said no problem I can get the brush.

While I’m not a huge fan of the bag this month I was very pleased with the items that I had received. First off I did get the Luxie 514 Rose Gold Blush Brush . I also got NYX Butter Lipstick in “Ripe Berry”, IBY Beauty highlighter in “Bubbly” (which unfortunately came shattered), Elizabeth Mott Matte bronzer in “Whatup Beaches” and Dermadeli Rejuvenating Toner.

Now for my review.

Obviously anyone who knows me knows how much I love Luxie brushes. But this brush is so soft and features an antibacterial coating to help eliminate bacteria and keep your face from breaking out. The 514 Blush brush is the perfect size for applying blush just like the name suggests.

Next up is the NYX Butter Lipstick in “Ripe Berry”. I had received another Butter Lipstick a couple years ago but the colour just wasn’t for me. This one however is such a pretty red with a slight maroon hint to it. The formula glides on effortlessly and is a glossy finish.

The Elizabeth Mott Matte Bronzer in “Whatup Beaches” is probably the most disappointing thing I received this month. Don’t get me wrong it has a beautiful formula, super smooth and a good pigmentation but it is SOOO SMALL. Like smaller than a pan of MAC shadows small. How am I even supposed to get any product on a fluffy brush? The colour is a cool toned matte brown, which would be perfect for contouring (but again how am I supposed to get it on a contour brush?)

Next is the IBY Beauty highlighter in “Bubbly”. And my goodness, if the Luxie brush wasn’t in here and it didn’t come shattered, this would be my favourite product of the month. It is such a pretty colour, and so buttery and pigmented. Since it came broken it was a little difficult to swatch but it still is super buttery and pretty. It is a coral colour with the right about of shimmer and no chunky glitter.

The last item I received was the Dermadeli Rejuvenating Toner. I’m not too sure how I feel about this product because I usually love toners but I’m not too fond of the smell of this one. I’m not even quite sure how to explain the smell either. It does however leave the skin feeling super refreshed and cool feeling. So overall it’s not a bad product, I just can’t really get over the smell.

Finally the theme of this months bag was “Much Love” and honestly I’m not too sure how the bag has to relate. I was hoping for a pink or red Valentine’s themed bag since it was much love. But instead the bag was a jean looking material with bright orange seams and zipper. The bag actually reminds me of something from the 80-90’s.
