Sweater Weather is Better Weather ft. DIY Pumpkin Spice Scrub

There’s just something about fall. The changing leaves, the cooler temperatures, UGGS, halloween, oversized sweaters,  pumpkin…. EVERYTHING PUMPKIN!!! I swear fall brings out my inner “basic” female. But seriously, how can you not love pumpkin?

I’ll admit I’m not one for the PSL since I hate espresso and coffee, but in honour of the first day of fall I had found a DIY Pumpkin Spice sugar scrub recipe and decided to try it out for myself. The original recipe can be found here or  continue reading to find the recipe as well as my opinion on the scrub.

The recipe is SUPER EASY, it takes roughly 5 minutes and is very inexpensive to make but the final outcome is fantastic. Now I’ll admit that it is not exactly a pumpkin spice smell but it does smell very sweet and warming. The scrub itself can be used for multiple things, I for one used it as a foot scrub during a girls night in, as well as a lip scrub… it tastes FANTASTIC, and leaves your lips feeling so soft.

Overall I would say that I would give it a 5 star rating because its been 2 days since I’ve used the scrub on my feet and they are still so smooth and soft and my lips are too. Plus it is soooo simple and cheap to make as I had mentioned above.

So as promised, here is the recipe!

  • 1¼ C. Brown Sugar
  • 1 T. Pumpkin Pie Spice
  • ¼ C. Light Olive Oil(not extra virgin), or ⅓ C. Coconut oil, softened
  • ½ t. Vanilla Extract

In a small bowl, mix together the brown sugar as well as the pumpkin pie spice. Once blended add the oil and vanilla to the bowl and mix in until blended. (If using coconut oil, mix it into the brown sugar in the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with a paddle attachment.) Store the mixture in a mason jar and it will keep for a few months at room temperature.

Now I will note that the recipe made 2 mini mason jars (purchased at the dollar store in a 4 pack for $3) and I had chose to use the extra virgin olive oil and not the coconut oil.

And I apologize for the lateness of this post as I had promised it would be up by yesterday, but I am dealing with a teething baby, as well as myself having a slight fever and feeling under the weather

ps. This is the first of many fall themed posts I have because I’m not sure if I mentioned it but fall is by far my favourite season of all. And I may or may not have already had a mini Davids Tea and Bath and Body Works fall haul
